The Mostly True Story
of Cobb's "Bootleg" Popcorn.

Like all things, it started innocently enough... A stovetop in Magnolia, some salted butter and a little bit of luck led to us making a bit of popcorn for friends and family. Then a little started to become a lot...

Things were simple at first.

No License.
No Inspections.
Just small batches via text message for friends of friends. Word began to spread around town about
"Cobb's Bootleg Popcorn" Operation and our phones were getting pretty busy.  Our friend put up a simple website to make orders easier...

Then all hell broke loose.

The next freaking day the biggest popcorn supplier in Seattle shuttered 2 months before Christmas and orders poured in for hundreds of gallons at a time. Popping all night under cover of darkness to fill orders and save Christmas. We were recruiting friends from childhood and popcorn was spilling out of every cupboard. All told we sold over 3,000 gallons in 6 weeks from the back of a rented kitchen.

Business was Booming.

But we were drinking from a fire-hose.

We couldn't believe it. People were so freaking excited to get their hands on our popcorn. There was just one problem. We couldn't keep up with demand and stay one step ahead of the law.

We decided to go Legit.

We finally got a spot in Pike Place Market, opened the doors and the rest is history.

Come see us!
